The Breakdown
A CASA aircraft of the Czech Army collected four horses in Prague, flew back to Berlin for four more prepared at Tierpark Berlin, and delivered all eight to Central Kazakhstan on May 31, 2026.
Przewalski's horse was declared extinct in the wild. Every living animal descends from a small captive founder population held in zoos, which means the zoo system is not a supplement to this species' survival, it is the entire mechanism. Prague holds the European studbook and runs the operation; the 2024 inaugural flight took fifteen hours from Prague-Kbely with stops in Istanbul and Baku.
Eight a year through 2028, roughly forty more over five years. There is no grade high enough.
